  • Shaye provides guidance to employers on a variety of employment law matters including, but not limited to:

    • Creation and revision of workplace policies, practices, and procedures;

    • Onboarding obligations and best practices for offer letters, documentation, and new employee training;

    • Employment agreements, arbitration agreements, severance agreements, and other workplace agreements;

    • Employee performance management ranging from performance evaluations to disciplinary actions and performance improvement plans;

    • Management of the interactive process from the creation of policies and procedures to the management of individual accommodation needs;

    • Implementation, coordination, and management of employee leaves of absence;

    • Training, prevention, and response obligations and best practices for addressing harassment, discrimination, and/or retaliation in the workplace, including management of internal and outside investigations;

    • Workplace violence prevention and safety planning;

    • Assessment and implementation of individual employee separations and mass reductions in force, where necessary.

  • Shaye conducts workplace investigations regarding claims of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation. Shaye has completed extensive training in this area and is an Association of Workplace Investigators Certificate Holder (AWI-CH).

  • Shaye conducts workplace audits to ensure compliance with California and federal employment laws. This includes, but is not limited to, audits regarding:

    • Classification of exempt and nonexempt employees;

    • Compensation structure, ranging from hourly, salary, piece-rate, commission, split shifts, and bonus payments;

    • Timekeeping, wage statement, and payroll practice compliance;

    • Meal and rest period compliance;

    • Vacation/paid time off (PTO), sick pay, and final pay compliance;

    • Expense reimbursement practices and procedures;

    • New hire offer letter, orientation, notices, and related documentation and training;

    • Employment agreement and arbitration agreement compliance and best practices;

    • Discipline and performance evaluation procedures and documentation;

    • Interactive process and reasonable accommodation training, procedures, and documentation;

    • Leave of absence procedures and documentation;

    • Sexual harassment training;

    • Workplace violence prevention planning procedures, documentation, and training;

    • Independent contractor classification;

    • Separation of employment practices, notices, and documentation; and

    • Recordkeeping and records retention and management.

  • Shaye provides remote training on a variety of employment law topics including, but not limited to:

    • Annual legal and legislative updates;

    • Wage and hour compliance;

    • Interactive process and reasonable accommodation policies and practices;

    • Harassment, discrimination, and retaliation prevention and training;
